You don’t need a GP referral to book an appointment with a podiatrist. You can book an appointment at CBR Podiatry online and bring any relevant scans or information along to your first appointment.
If you’re a patient with a chronic medical condition such as diabetes, your GP may issue you a “Referral Form for Individual Allied Health Services” for your podiatry care. Please bring this to your first appointment.

If your GP has issued you with a “Referral Form for Individual Allied Health Services under Medicare for patients with a chronic medical condition and complex care needs,” you will be eligible for a small Medicare rebate for some appointment types. See your GP for more details and request that they email it to us at info@cbrpodiatry.com.au.

You should see a podiatrist if you are experiencing foot, heel, ankle or lower leg pain, discomfort, or mobility issues that aren’t resolving. Our experienced principal podiatrist, Nick Cotton, is skilled in treating ingrown toenails, warts, hard skin and corns, to name but a few. At our Canberra podiatry clinic, centrally located in O’Connor, inner North Canberra, we can also help with foot issues related to diabetes, arthritis, sporting injuries and more.

Whether you have a sudden injury, chronic condition, or any concerns about your foot health, our experienced podiatrist is here to provide professional care and personalised treatment plans to improve your quality of life.

CBR Podiatry conducts comprehensive biomechanical assessments to evaluate how your gait may affect other areas of your body. With a deep understanding of foot and lower limb anatomy, we can diagnose foot conditions, identify potential underlying health issues, and provide appropriate treatment plans.

Please bring the following to your appointment at CBR Podiatry (if applicable):

  • Referral form from your GP (if provided with one)
  • Your private health fund card
  • Relevant specialist reports and/or imaging scans
  • Shoes you wear most frequently
  • Older shoes showing wear patterns
  • Shoes you wear when experiencing discomfort
  • Current and previous orthotics

It is preferable to wear shorts if you are attending for a biomechanical assessment (i.e. heel/arch pain).

Payment can be made at the end of your appointment. We accept debit and credit card (Mastercard, Visa and AMEX) payments and payment by cash. If you have private health insurance with podiatry cover, bring your health insurance card to your appointment for your on-the-spot rebate.

We accept all health funds. We also use HICAPs to process your health insurance rebate on the spot.

We are often able to manage ingrown toenails conservatively without surgery. If so, we treat ingrown toenails non-surgically by using specialised instruments to trim the edge of the nail and remove the ingrown spike of the nail. If, however, you require ingrown toenail surgery, you’ll be offered a surgical appointment soon after.

The first appointment includes taking a detailed history, neurological and vascular assessment, on-the-spot treatment or a recommendation regarding your next treatment steps.

For more detailed information, visit our ingrown toenail treatment page.

Podiatry treatment is rarely painful. However there are some exceptions depending on the nature of your foot problem (e.g. an ingrown toenail). If suitable, a local anaesthetic will be offered to minimise any discomfort. Our podiatry services are highly specialised, and we always treat patients in ways that minimise any pain.
